About WANZL

Now one of the leading partners of the global commerce industry, WANZL was founded in the town of Leipheim, Germany in 1947. When the very first self-service supermarket opened in Hamburg in 1949, WANZL supplied both the shopping baskets and shopping trolleys. Over the company's lifetime, WANZL has patented a number of retail industry products, including the stack-able shopping trolley in 1950 and the first fixed basket trolley in 1951. In 2003, the company launched its first plastic shopping trolley.

As the company grew, it began to expand into international markets and now has branches all over the world including the United Kingdom ( Wanzl UK Ltd ), Italy, Austria, Poland, Belgium, China, South Korea and Australia. At the beginning of the twentieth century, WANZL created two new divisions - Airport and Security Solutions and Logistics and Industry - to sit alongside its existing Shop Solutions division. In 2012, the company acquired TECHNIBILT, the leading manufacturer of shopping trolleys in North America.
